Beside Still Waters
Meet Eddie, a heart warrior ❤️ a fighter🥊 an angel who will never be forgotten 🤍🕊️
@katie.kremer.5 won the raffle we sponsored for @halos_of_the_st_croix Memorial Walk. Thank you Katie for sharing Eddie with us! 🤍
One year ago Eddie was in the middle of a raging storm in the NICU, today the storms are gone and he is safe in the arms of Jesus beside still waters. 🩵⛵
From Eddie's Mamma:
"Edward "Eddie" Aaron Donald Slinger ; Born 8/22/23, Passed 10/09/23; male; 48 days old; brown but starting to lighten- short baby hair; baby brown eyes (but looked like they were starting to turn blue); fair skinned; button nose and large ear lobes ❤️
Eddie was a heart warrior. He had open heart surgery 19 hours after being born. He wasn't expected to make it through the night, but he was a fighter. He didn't like change and preferred treatments to be slow integration. We lovingly called him our little turtle. He liked things slow & Steady. He had a strong grip on your finger . He had so much strength for someone so tiny & fighting for his life. He love to play with his crocheted octopus and loved to give his nurses the side eye.
We never got to hold Eddie up to our shoulder, snuggled into our chest. I'd love to see him held like that, like a normal baby. So maybe snuggled into Jesus' chest/shoulder, looking out with a light smile. And in one hand holding his crocheted octopus.
We picture him on a boat with peaceful, calm waters.
We had a photo on his room door of Jesus on the boat (like the story in the bible) and in this painting Jesus is holding a boy. And it talked about how Jesus holds us through the storm. We imagine Jesus holding Eddie during his storm here on earth.
We thought it would be cool to have Jesus, able to hold him how we couldn't (without the tubes/wires). Now on a peaceful sea. He loved his octopus and holding fingers.
...Eddie holding that while being snuggled means so much to us. If you put clothes on Eddie, maybe have them be turtle jammies to incorporate his turtle mascot. We hardly got to see his face without tubes. This will be so sweet to have. Eddie also had the best ear lobes. They were huge and I loved them!"
